About Mrs. Datsko
I am currently an Art Teacher at Northern Cambria Elementary/Middle School where I teach students ranging from kindergarten through 8th Grade. I grew up in Nicktown, Pennsylvania and graduated from Northern Cambria High School. I received a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Slippery Rock University in 2008 and my teaching certification from Carlow University in 2009. At Slippery Rock University I focused on Ceramics and Art Education as well as threw for the Track and Field Team. In 2014, I completed my Masters in Education at Saint Francis University. I also enjoyed 2.5 years as an Adjunct Ceramics Instructor at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson.
My future goal is to offer ceramics classes to the community. Through out the year, I plan to build a ceramic portfolio of both decorative and functional pottery to exhibit and sell, share my knowledge through how to videos for my students and advocate for the Arts! This year you can watch for my work on exhibition at Southern Alleghany Museum of Art on Saint Francis University Campus in Loretto.
My favorite activities outside of school are pottery, hiking, backpacking, skiing, coaching, traveling and spending time with my husband and two children, as well as my family and friends.
I absolutely LOVE teaching Art! Teaching gives me the opportunity to share my passion for art with my students. The most rewarding part of the job is watching students use their creativity and abilities to CREATE! In my art room I strive to have all students trying their best and achieving things that they never thought possible. Student artwork is exhibited through local art venues and events as well as at Northern Cambria's Fine Art Nights. Here you will see both individual student art projects and group instillation art pieces. For our most recent work you can visit Northern Cambria Elementary and Northern Cambria Middle pages at www.Artsonia.com to view the student artwork.
